How do I compare two Australian salaries after tax?

Each salary is run through the same resident tax calculation. On $80,000, take-home pay is about $63,880.00. On $150,000 it is about $110,430.00. The difference in take-home pay is about $46,550.00.

Does a higher salary keep the same share after tax?

No. $150,000 is in the 37% band, so dollars above $135,000 are taxed at 37%. $80,000 is taxed at 30% only on the income above $45,000. The effective rate is 20.15% at $80,000 and 26.38% at $150,000.

Is super included in the comparison?
